The re-designed Micro-Epsilon measurement system for metal strip offers a much larger measuring gap of 190 mm and can be used for thickness and profile inspection of metal strip up to 4m wide and thicknesses between approx. 1mm and 12mm. The system reliably measures corrugated and vibrating metal. Using profile sensors thickness measurement is enabled to an accuracy of 0.01mm. Edge detection for warped strips has become possible thanks to the usage of a special high-tech light barrier. Radiometric methods have been replaced by optical measuring techniques, making the system wear-free and free of emissions during operation.
